December

Ahh...I was doing so well there for a while. What happened? School started up again, I went back to work. And the rest of the time I have two little kids and a messy nest to look after. Also, I don't browse the internet on the computer as much. I usually just use my phone... So here I am sitting at the laptop, browsing my photos from the last few months, considering what might be scrapbook material, if I ever have time for that, and I decided to check up on a few other "crafty momma" blogs I like to quietly follow. I guess their example encouraged me to jump back in :)

Hmm... this thought just occured to me. I guess I'll go for it. The photoaday challange kept me posting pictures, even if the material wasn't super interesting... So, as a New Year's resolution, maybe I should challenge myself to get back on the blog wagon and make a serious effort to post once a week. I'll probably try photoaday at first to keep me on track with my goal, but I'm kind of hoping a habit might be formed and I might be able to blog more about my life, my kids, my students' artwork etc. each week.

Be sure to check in on me and see how I do!

Happy New Year!

Photoadayaug 10-14

Day 10 - Ring

 Day 11 - Purple

Day 12 - Spoon

Day 13 - Simple

Day 14 - Arrow

I did not "stage" this on my calendar. Interestingly, there really was an arrow on Day 14. What a happy coincidence. I just had to make that my picture for arrow!

And just in case you're wondering I did take quite a few pictures on the 10th. However, when I looked back over them, I didn't exactly feel they were blog worthy... Guess I'll try again next month. I'll try for...more artistically capturing the everyday....

Photoadayaug - 2nd installment

Firstly, my apologies. I mixed up Day 5 and Day 6. So, this post will address Day 5 and then Days 7-9. On the other hand - Yay, I'm back to add more photos sooner than I thought!

Day 5 - Logo

Day 7 - 8 o'clock

Day 8 - Glasses

These are my son's glasses. He's had them for about a year now, even though he's only not quite three. All the time people ask how we knew he needed glasses at such a young age. We notticed that he had what is commonly refered to as a lazy eye. When he's wearing the glasses, (which he is really good about, sweet little guy) his eyes are straight. I could tell you more about glasses than I thought I'd ever know, (neither my husband nor I wear them). I would tell you about the adventures this pair of glasses (and it's predecessors) have had, if I thought it wouldn't be too boring. Stressful at the time, but really, they're stories not worthy of retelling.

Day 9 - Mess

This is one of the most particularly messy places in my home right now - our "spice cupboard." It is so disorganised currently, that it is even having an identity crisis as to what exactly it should storing. Everything from spices, to gravy mix, to aluminum foil, icing sugar, plastic wrap... Yikes! I didn't even want to take this picture and post it, I'm so embarased...

I hope you drop by again soon. I'm feeling pretty ambitious right now. If I can remember that it's the tenth tomorrow I might even try to do something I've never done before - 10 on the 10th... Have a happy Thursday!

Photoadayaug #1-5

Daily uploading is not realistic for me right now. Knowing this, my plan for #photoadayaug is to post my pictures weekly. Here are my pics so far:

Day 1 - Outside - This picture describes outside here better than I can put into words. Our weather has been rather warm lately. Even the sunloving flowers on this street corner are wilting in the heat. The basil plant on my porch looked a bit like this earlier today, but it was a little cooler today (it even showered a little) and now, happily, the basil looks as though it has recovered.

Day 2 - One

Day 3 - Coin

Day 4 - Somewhere you sat

Day 5 - Writing (that I'm reading - and loving!)

Photoadayjuly - Retrospective

We went away, Life was busyAlright I don't know what to say or how to begin this. I managed to snap a few of the photoadayjuly pictures. Sadly, I'm still working on the "posting them in a timely fashion" part of the challenge. For my own sake I'll post them here, with the appropriate "day" label and see how August goes.

Day 14 - Building - this is the kind of building that's going on in my life...

Day 15 - Finger

Day 16 - Sign

Day 17/Day 28 - Addiction/Cup (Very appropriate for both...perhaps I could rename this subject Cup of Addiction...)

Day 18 - Plate -  Mmmm... this was SO good!

Day 19 - Calm

Alas, this is as far as I got. My July in a nutshell I suppose. Not everything I wanted to get done got finished, but progress was made in some areas. I'll try for a better record in August. Hope to see you then!

11, 12, 13

Ahhh! What a mess. I'm behind already! Things got a little crazy-busy around here for a few days so now my house is more of a mess than usual and my blog resolution is getting watered down. I'm trying to hold on though. I can get back on the horse. I'm up for the challenge-seriously! So here it goes...

Day 11 - letter

I'm not planning to always post about the topic of the photo. Part of the attraction of this challenge was that I could just post the picture PERIOD, but this one had/has quite a bit of, well, unspoken meaning to it that I feel compelled to share. The letter 'F' ties in with everything. On July 11 ironically I was having one of those days ( I think everyone has them) on which I felt that everything was a failure. In reality things are totally fine, but my perception of things that day was definitely of the 'F' nature.
Additionally, after I took the photo, and edited it with instagram, I saw the bottom of the letter was cut off. I liked that it now had a bit of ambiguity to possibly be an 'E' that just wasn't totally in the frame. 'E' is also significant to me at this current phase of my life, as it was one of (if not the very first) letter my first son started to consistently recognise and point out. This happened probably close to a year ago now, but it seems like it wasn't that long ago.

Day 12 - texture

I love texture. I was starting to get worried I'd find the perfect picture to illustrate it when a happy accident occurred. I snapped this photo by the slip of a finger and a perfect texture shot was born. You may think it dull and boring, but I love it. I love how the paper encroached on the edge of the weave, adding contrast between textures. I'm sorry, I get excited about little things like that, especially when it comes to pattern and texture.

Day 13 - open

That's all for now. If I can post three more tomorrow then I'll be back on track. Wish me luck.

Day 10

Ahhh... finally warm weather is upon us. I am trying to fully enjoy it in all its sticky glory for as long as it lasts, especially since I complained so bitterly about the cool wet weather in June.

Today's theme was favourite colour. For me this was an easy question to answer. I passionately love the colour green, in all it's shades/highlights and variations. What to photoraph, however...?

Day 10 - Favourite Colour (green)

I can't say this is my favourite shade of green (it's not even the same colour on the screen as in real life!), however, it seemed somewhat fitting that when I came across this challenge, what I chose to scribble it on was the back of a green card...
